1 • Don't be too hard on yourself
You don't have to be too hard on yourself and make promises you can't keep. Because if you fail on those 'unrealistic promises'. You'd only become angrier with yourself which would further deteriorate your energy and make you more 'inconsistent'.
2 • Zoom out
It's ok if you didn't go to the gym 5 days per week. It's ok if you didn't write for 6 days per week. It's ok if you didn't eat healthy for 7 days per week. Consistency is all about thinking in long term. Are you gonna do all those activities for the next 5-10 years?
3 • Reward yourself
Every time you hit a milestone, no matter how
insignificant it may seem, Reward yourself. I don't care if it's a pat on your back or a party with your homies. What gets rewarded, gets repeated. You'd have to continue doing the activity to feel good again.
4 • Prepare for failure beforehand
For every goal you've set (work, health, relationships), Imagine that you 'failed' to accomplish it and prepare for the worst.
So, if you do fail, you won't become all morose and quit. You'd be all ready to bounce back, and that's what matters.
5 • Break down your goals
You don't eat the whole pizza in one bite; you
can't. So, what do you do? You break it down into multiple good-looking slices and then eat it.
Similar is with your goals. Don't set a huge a*s goal. Break it down into smaller chunks.
6 • Don't overburden yourself
You can only get so much done in a day. Write down the 3 most important tasks you have to accomplish, no matter what. Then, just do them, one by one. No hacks there. If you do complete them, only then move on to something else.
7 • Make it easier
Consistency is not about torturing yourself
for eternity. It's actually about figuring out the easiest way out so that you can continue doing the activity consistently. Learn. Consume knowledge. Look at those who are already doing what you want to do.
8 • Don't mix results
Consistency has got nothing to do with results.
Just because you don't see any 'instant results'
Doesn't mean you go ahead and quit. Just keep doing the right thing. Keep learning, keep making mistakes, keep correcting them, and keep growing.
9 • Do what you are passionate about
You have to push yourself to do the thing you
don't actually wanna do. But if you tie up the 'good habits' with a long term vision you are passionate about, That very passion will automatically keep pushing you to stay consistent.
10 • Hold yourself accountable
One of the best ways to do that is by telling
your friends and families what you are up to.
Once you do, you are gonna think twice before going back on your word, As your reputation is on the line. That social pressure will push you to be consistent.
